Emilie has made it her personal mission to reduce the distance between “healthy” and “sick” people, believing that illness is part of life and that many people in our modern society find it difficult to cope with chronic conditions.
Emilie has a rare form of blood cancer (in addition to the leak in her meninges, which has been successfully sealed). She has now published her (Dutch) columns in book form. Her goal is to foster greater understanding of what it’s like to live with a chronic illness. She hopes that others in the same situation will find recognition.
You can order her book, “Niet gebroken… leven met een chronische ziekte,” via https://www.gigaboekshop.com/product/niet-gebroken/ (in Dutch – a translation is in progress).
The proceeds from this book will go to the MPN Foundation’s scientific research fund for research into this rare form of blood cancer.
